Ray has his angel wings

Hi everyone, this is Ray’s mom and dad, unfortunately we lost our baby Tuesday, and just wanted to let everyone know that Ray put up a good fight, but the cancer was too far into his other limbs and lungs. It seems so unfair to have put him through the surgery and the 4 treatments of Chemo, but if we did not opt to do that for our baby boy, than we would not have had a chance to have him the extra fews months of joy he gave everyone!!!  He also felt the best he had being a tripawd, alomost like a puppy, so no regrets, just a lot of sadness and missing him so very very much!! We wish all of the other tripawds and their pawrents the best of luck and many many hugs and lots of love to each and everyone  whom has the honor to share their lives with with any and all dogs !!!!

Love  Angel Ray and his mom & dad

My 3rd chemo- still going strong

Hi everyone, so sorry for not being in touch in a while, I have had my 3rd chemo treatment today and everyone at Fox Creek is so excited how well I am doing. I am taking the chemo well and have one more treatment in 3 weeks. Then I hope to be in remission. I am thinking about each and everyone of you and hope you are doing good too.

With love Ray Ray

My first chemo treatment

Hi everyone, I had my first chemo treatment Friday the 18th, my mom dropped me off and picked me back up an hour later.  The girls at Fox Creek took very good care of me when they administered the Carboplatin via IV.  It was only a 15 minute procedure. The only side effect that my pawrents had to be aware of was that this could lower my white blood count, so I have to see my regular vet 7 days later to have them do a CBC count. So far I feel really good and strong. For more information on Carboplatin or other cancer treatments, my mom found this web site that explains everything about Carboplatin and other treatments.

Just an FYI to all of  my fellow tripawds, there is another treatment that goes along with Carboplatin which is Adriamycin, but because our vet explained, it does not make give our lives any more quality than the single dose of just Carboplatin. So be careful when you chose your treatment. The double dose is also double in the cost. I will continue my treatments every three weeks for up to 12 weeks. It will of course all depend on my CBC counts and xray results each time I visit my friends at Fox Creek.

It has been a beautiful weekend in St.louis and I feel awesome!!

Hello everyone, it has been a crisp cool weekend and my weekend was awesome!! I was strong to jump into mom & dads bed and sleep with them last night. Today is even better, I feel like my old self. My mom has been covering me up in  A&D ointment to keep my skin soft and non itchy with a really soft t-shirt on and I really don’t even notice my stitches. I met my mom at the front door like I always had with one of my new toys and I couldn’t stop wagging my tail.

I feel awesome and so far have not had any pain medication today.  I feel proud to be a Tripawd because I feel so much better and out of pain. Hope everyone had a great weekend too.

Having a hard day. My gymnastics scared mom!

Day 3 is not as fun as day 2. This morning I did the splits on the floor and my mom had to help me up. It made me really sore but I’m ok. My bruising is also showing a lot today (which my brother Roscoe thinks looks really cool). I really don’t know how woman shave because I am so itchy all over and my mom wont let me lick. She put lots of A and D ointment on me and a new t-shirt and I feel a lot better. I have been panting and not laying down all day.

My Brother really wants me to play and it makes me sad that I don’t feel up to it yet. The drugs from my doctor (tramadol) is supposed to make me sleep but they kind of make me feel weird. I have finally decided to lay down for a while hoping for a better day tomorrow. I have promised my mom I would give up gymnastics and not run under the deck anymore. Playing limbo with 3 legs under a deck was not as fun as I thought it would be.

Raymond is home and doing awesome

hello everyone, thank you for all of your awesome responses and support, I am now home and I am doing very well. I was so excited to go home, I ran to the car and jumped right in. Which I know my parents and the doctors were very excited, but concerned as well because I am supposed to take it easy.  I am now doing what we do best just hanging out and being a couch potato, I have lots and lots of staples, which kinda bother me, but I have an ice pack on and that is helping me feel better, The doctors at Fox Creek were awesome to me and I get to go back and see them in 3 weeks and possibly start doing chemo.  All of my siblings in the house are being careful with me and they seem to understand. They are just very happy that I am home too.

To all of my fellow Tripawds- thank you for making this easier on my parents to make this decision for I am no longer in the horrible  pain I was once in and I am doing awesome and I hope you all too are doing awesome!!!   Bless all of you that share the unconditional love we offer and receive!!!

Ray Ray

Hello my name is Raymond and I am a 5 year old Great Dane with osteosarcoma

Hi I am Raymond – but all of my friends call me Ray Ray, I am a five year old Great Dane who had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma just two weeks ago. My doctors told me that I needed to have my leg amputated so I would not be in pain. My parents were horrified with this prognosis. So they did tons of research and thanks to Tripawds, they learned so much about Moose and Nova, that it helped  them decide to be brave and set up my surgery as soon as possible. As of this morning I was taken to Fox Creek Veterinary  clinic  in Wildwood, MO to meet with my doctors and go through a three hour surgery to have my right front leg removed.  I know that my parents are worried sick about me, but I am in very good hands. the doctors called them and told them that the surgery went very well and I am on very good pain medication and receiving lots of hugs & love from everyone around me. If all goes well, I get to come home tomorrow morning.  My parents have brought home two twin size mattresses to lay on the floor, gated the stairs, have a ramp for me to get in and out of the car and even covered the kitchen floor with carpet, so I don’t have a chance of slipping. I know that my baby brother Rosco (4 year old great dane ) & my older brother (Dexter- 14 year old aussie mix) & of course my 7 year old Lab “girlfriend” Lucy all miss me and seem so very depressed that I am not home yet. But I will get to see them all very soon and I will no longer have that horrible pain in my leg and will soon be able to play with them all again.

I will let everyone know how it is going when I get home-
